Alaskan Puppies

are made up of Malamutes, or any other dog mixed with them.

Being a mix, or hybrid, doesn’t necessarily mean that the dog is a 50/50 mix. Breeders who are intentionally breeding for certain characteristics will use cross-generational breeding, so dogs might be 70/30 or 60/40. What they are doing is specifically breeding for certain characteristics.

Probably the most common mix is a Malamute/Siberian Husky Mix. These are referred to as a Malamute Husky, Siberian Husky Malamute, Alaskan Husky Malamute, Alaskan Siberian Husky, and Alusky. Malamutes are brown eyed only, more stubborn, less obedient, more same sex dog aggresive, bigger, and stronger than Siberians. By cross breeding over time, you can achieve a dog that is less aggresive, less stubborn, has several eye colors, and is smaller. The other advantage is that you can breed out some genetic diseases of each breed, which occured after their split from wolves, and in isolation from each other.

Other common Hybrids are:

Alaskan Malamute Wolf: If Malamutes aren’t quite wolflike enough for you, you might want to try one of these. Also called a Wolamute.

Rottweiler Malamute. This is another pretty common mix. Scary.

Alaskan German Shepherds, or Alaskan Malamute German Shepherds are another common mix. Ideally you get the obedience and Temperment of a German Shepherd, without the hip dysplacia.
